My Dilemma

Don't judge me (for all you know, I'm exaggerating). So, my dilemma. For those of you who don't know, I'm notorious for eating ENORMOUS quantities of ice cream. When we were growing up, I'd come out of the kitchen with a bowl of ice cream and one of my parents (never fail) would say (in an incredulous tone) "Gee Amanda, is that a snack or a meal?" Oh, if only it were socially acceptable to have ice cream for my meals. I'd totally be on board with that. Alas since ice cream is strictly limited to the desert area of my life, I've tried to limit myself. Enters the dilemma. I ALWAYS wait until the kids are asleep before I get my little (a relative word) treat (because I don't want to share), so once they are in bed I go into the kitchen, pull out the carton of ice cream and scoop up my serving of heaven. The problem comes on the third night (yes a carton of ice cream lasts me three nights. I already admitted to eating ENORMOUS quantities), when I go to make my bowl and when I get the desired amount there is such a small amount left in the box I just stand there staring at it. It almost paralyzes me, I stand there thinking, "If I put this in my bowl, that will be way too much ice cream, but If I leave it in the carton I'll be ticked tomorrow night when I have this measly little tease of ice cream". I always go for the "way too much" option, but lately I've been thinking, "why don't I just shave a small amount off my serving each night and stretch the carton life to four days?" Maybe next time, for now I'll delve into my massive bowl of bliss.
P.S. If you live near a Ben and Jerry's MARCH 23 is free scoop day (as if one scoop is enough). Enjoy!

You know what I think? Vermont baby! (That's where the Ben and Jerry's factory is by the way).

Simple, just get a second freezer so you can store more ice cream.

Seriously though, we must be soul mates; let's go on a date to Toscanini's. Best ice cream. anywhere. ever.

Wow! You are your father's daughter. Every time he would come to visit us in Vilseck, before you guys got to Nurenberg, he would always splurge on ice cream and all the fixings.

I am impressed it last three nights. My favorite ice cream is Blue Bell Peppermint, and if that is in my house I sneek it (so ryan doesn't see me) after breakfast, for my lunch and then a late night snack. Yes i did say i eat it for lunch, so there it is socially acceptable :). Lets just say we can't keep ice cream in the house, because we would go broke. I just can't control myself.

Hmmm...we need to think of something healthy you could mix with the ice cream, so it will still look and seem like you're eating a ton, but it will last longer because really, only half is ice cream and the other half is, oh let's say...spinach! Okay, maybe not spinach, but you get the idea!

I am jealous that you and Kathy get to have a lenghty girl's week filled with midnight ice cream binges. Maybe I will buy a Harley and ride it across country to Boston...I can dream can't I?! Tell your mom HI and we need to have a visit someday soon!

This post reminds me of my highschool days when I worked at a grocery store and use to buy ice cream on sale and eat half of the carton in one sitting while watching TV. I don't think about eating that much ice cream now but I do admit to sneaking treats when kids are in bed. If its to early for bed time I sometimes lock myself in the bedroom and eat my treat in peace.
