Spring???

The weather has been so great the last few day, we are starting to feel like it may really be SPRING. The kids and I have been able to reunite with some of our playground friends, here in the apartment, and we even went to a park to play with some of the local Home School families today (Thanks to our friends, for calling to invite us). It was great! The park had woods around it and the kids were able to play in a small creek and gather sticks to build a fort. They had so much fun. Surprisingly enough I actually enjoyed hibernating this winter (I think I'm a homebody), but it sure was nice to get outside and see them so active (don't get me wrong, they are OFTEN active in the house, but that's not as enjoyable for me for some reason).

Here Porter and Maya are working on one of the new favorite crafts. They worked on these projects every day for long periods of time, and were really bummed when they ran out of beads (I guess another trip to the craft store is in order).

Maya made a little owl. It was very cute, and she and Porter (who made a Jolly Rodger - Pirate flag) had a great time playing with their little creations. They would pretend that their figures would call each other and what-not.
In part our hibernation was to protect those around us. Benny has had a pretty wicked cold the last few weeks (each of us got the cold to some extent, but his seemed to be the worse). He seems to be doing much better (although the cough and runny nose seem to be lingering).
This picture just cracked me up because Maya looks so put out in the background. Like "gee, the boys always get to have all the fun". A few weeks ago Casey bought a bottle of 'spray air' like to clean off your computer keyboard. While using the spray we discovered our hands would have this very bitter taste after touching the desk where we had sprayed it (don't ask me why grown-ups would be tasting their hands anyways). Come to find out they add a bittering agent to this stuff to prevent people from sniffing it. So being the ever resourceful parents that we are, we began spraying it on Maya's thumb to prevent her from sucking it. The first time she tasted it she RAN into the bathroom crying and saying "THAT'S THE WORST TASTE I'VE EVER TASTED!". It was pretty 'a-larious'. Hopefully it'll work.

Poor kid! Does he have allergies as well as the cold? The bead activity looks like something I might want to put in my art center. Are they reusable?

So funny. That is so funny. Though it sounds like Maya's hands-in-the-mouth must be a genetic issue...

Okay, I can't believe you posted the snot picture, it makes me want to loose the broccoli I ate for lunch. It is 'a-larious' that Maya hated the taste of that stuff. Let me know if it works. I will see you all in just 3 days!
