Easter 2010

The Easter Bunny visited the Elmer kids, although without much hoopla. They each got their OWN box of fruit snacks (Curious George for Benny, Scooby for Maya, and Phineas and Ferb for Porter).

We had every intention of dying eggs, doing an egg hunt, and stocking up on band aids (my sister always puts band aids in her kids Easter baskets-GENIUS) but it wasn't in the stars, we were out of vinegar, and only managed to get to the grocery store (thus the ENTIRELY edible contents of our baskets). But we did "Blow" eggs for this first time ever (but we still haven't decorated them). The kids LOVED it, Porter kept saying "It's like you throwing up in the egg". Pretty exciting stuff.

Porter ate too much junk and got a tummy ach. He sure was a sweetie though, I love those Reeses Peanut Butter eggs, and he got three small ones in his basket, and said I could have them (Maya also offered me her, but don't worry, I didn't eat them, I already had eaten my fill the night before).

What's better than a bucket full of candy? In all actuality, they didn't get THAT much candy. They each got three Reese's eggs, a handful of jelly beans, a few little Reese's Pieces eggs (that no one liked), their fruit snacks and several bags of microwave kettle corn (which, despite the high price I paid for it, refuses to pop, grrr)

And Miles had a great time chewing on everyone elses packaging. He may have gotten his grubby little hands on a few stray jelly beans, but hey, it's Easter!

I promise we don't make Miles pay in kisses for all of his food (just most of it).

What a sweet daddy to share.

Oh yeah, they also got a package of Mentos each. When I got into bed last night I found several Mentos under my blankets, they must not of been much of a hit, but they made for a nice little bedtime snack.

Easter Sunday spent in front of the computer watching General Conference. Maya woke up this morning and asked "MOM, when is the real Easter?" I told her yesterday WAS the real Easter, and she said "But what about my Easter dress?". I got her an Easter dress last year on clearance and she's been dying to wear it ever since. I assured her she could wear it next week.

We had Casey's cousin Annie (who brought a loaf of zucchini bread that I've eaten exclusively today), Brian (our neighbor), and our friends (the Kooymans) over for Easter dinner between sessions of Conference and it was so much fun. I tried to make a traditional Easter dinner with ham, potato casserole, green beans, and rolls. I made WAY too much food, so I guess we'll be having leftovers for a while (good thing most of us liked it. Porter told me "I don't really want to eat any of that food because one thing looks disgusting, one thing tastes disgusting, and one thing is too hot" green beans=looks disgusting, ham=tastes disgusting, potatoes=too hot). My friend Ginny made an awesome dessert with nuts, whipped cream, and strawberry's (YUMMY, I wish I had more right now). The kids had a great time playing with their friends, and we even got to sit outside some. It was an absolutely beautiful day.

Miles looks like such a young man with all that hair and his adorable face. Those kids are just growing up too fast. And Porters comment about the food killed me.

I'm glad you are eating that bread! I was going to call you to say that I was having some of my loaf at home and it wasn't quite cooked through. :) Seems like you are getting along just fine though. Thanks again for dinner!
